The Valley of the Sun YMCA and Arizona State University are teaming up to host Arizona’s most historic running event. The Y Race Phoenix, now in its 45th year, is the oldest road race in Arizona. The scenic rolling course starts and finishes at the 16,000-acre South Mountain Park, the largest municipal park in the country.
The courses are out and back routes run completely within the park, with spectacular views of striking desert landscape and the Phoenix skyline. With a Half Marathon, 5K race and a free 1M Fun Run, there is something for everyone – from the competitive runner to walkers enjoying the picturesque setting.
This year, as part of our shared commitment to a healthy Arizona, the Y and ASU are hosting Fitness Fest at Civic Space Park, across from the Lincoln Family Downtown YMCA and ASU’s Downtown Phoenix Campus. Friday’s activities will include health screenings, wellness demonstrations and talks with nutrition experts.
